An Evening of Church Music and Song

As part of a local music festival in August 2007, an Evening of Church Music and Song was held in the Daniel O'Connell Memorial Church. This concert marked the official beginning of restoration of the magnificent Magahy Pipe Organ and of the Church itself, and also to celebrate the centenary of the installation of this fine musical instrument in 1907, which sadly went silent in the 1990's because of the need for repair and restoration.

The DVD is a live recording of the evening's delightful musical gathering in its splendid acoustic and aesthetic surrounds. Featuring Prof Gerard Gillen and John O'Keefe, two of the most prominent organists in Ireland and indeed in Europe, this concert was a sheer feast of beautiful music. Joining to make a superb musical line-up were Cormac Dineen, Gavin Ring O'Connor, Gabrielle Brisch-Middleton, Patrice O'Connor and Dean Power.
